Silver Care
Silver 925
Sweat, perfume and salt water are the 3 most damaging things for silver.
Don't be afraid if silver gets black. If jewelry comes into contact with any product that can darken it, or sometimes simply the pH of our skin makes it lose its shine, don't be afraid, silver can be cleaned.
With Platalin
There are several ways to clean silver. The one we find most effective is Platalin.
Apply it to a towel and rub the jewelry. When it is shiny, clean it with paper and remove all the remaining product. Rinse the jewelry with soap and water to dry it again.
It is advisable to use gloves because it is a corrosive product, we recommend using it only a few times on the pieces. Be careful if there are stones in the piece, it is better that the product does not touch the stone as it could damage it.
With Baking Soda
Another method is baking soda, hot water, a cotton cloth and aluminum foil.
Heat the water and put aluminum foil in a bowl with the matte side of the paper facing down. Add the hot water with two tablespoons of baking soda and finally the jewelry. You just have to wait while you stir the jewelry and then dry it well with a cotton cloth. You can repeat the process if it doesn't turn out right the first time.
Be careful if the piece has a design with some part of it with darkened silver, this process will make that part of the design disappear. It is recommended for chains but if you have a piece that is completely silver you can also use it.
Other options are toothpaste and water.
Boiling water for a few seconds and detergent.
Magic cloth or soft towel.
